Battle of Waterloo Chess Set
Near the village of Waterloo, just south of Brussels,
Belgium,
on the 18th of June 1815, was fought the final and decisive battle of the
Napoleonic Wars. The combined armies of the British and Prussian forces under
the commander in Chief, the Duke of Wellington, met in battle with the French
army commanded by Napoleon.
Without doubt the Battle of Waterloo was the most significant
European battle and as a result determined Europe’s
future. Our sculptors and designers have combined to create, from the principle
characters of the era, a chess set of great authentic detail.
This battle shaped Europe’s
destiny and marks a turning point in European history. Such an important event
deserves to be recognised and our sculptors have produced what is undoubtedly
the best researched and most authentic chess set of this era.
